Banda: Communist Party in Uttar Pradesh has announced to field candidates on five Lok Sabha seats including Banda. This seems to be another rift in the India alliance. There is a nationwide alliance of India Alliance and Communist Party. The Communist Party has taken this step after not getting a single seat in Uttar Pradesh. However, the Communist Party no longer has the same support base as before.
Alliance may break in UP!
The constituent parties of the India alliance are not able to follow the alliance dharma. In Uttar Pradesh, alliance with Rashtriya Lok Dal kept happening. After this, Pallavi Patel also announced to field her candidates on three seats, due to which the alliance of Pallavi’s party Apna Dal Cameravadi was in trouble. At the same time, Jan Adhikar Party is also advocating India alliance and demanding some seats but till now the matter has not been resolved. Here the Communist Party has also started showing tantrums. Due to which the alliance with communists in Uttar Pradesh may break.
Two days ago, the Communist Party meeting was held at Ramnath Ramkishan Dharamshala in Chitrakoot. Central Executive Member and UP in-charge Dr. Girish and State Secretary Arvind Raj Swaroop were present in this meeting. During the same meeting, party leaders told that the party will field litterateur Ramchandra Saras from Banda Lok Sabha constituency. Apart from this, it will field its candidates on the Lok Sabha seats of Shahjahanpur, Ayodhya, Lalganj and Ghosi and SP will support the Congress candidate on other seats in the Robert Ganj assembly by-election.
Opinion was not taken in seat distribution
Regarding the reasons for the Communist Party fielding its candidates on five seats in Uttar Pradesh despite the alliance, UP in-charge Dr. Girish says that his party is in the Bharat alliance in the entire country. Even after this, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Congress state president Ajay Rai met among themselves and distributed the seats. Their opinion was not taken in this, hence we are fielding our candidates on five seats in the state. Ramchandra Saras will contest from Banda seat. He had earlier contested elections from the same seat in 2014 also. Candidates for the remaining four seats will be announced soon.
The Communist Party, which once made its own identity in Bundelkhand, no longer has the same dominance as before. Now the party is struggling to save its existence. In the 60s, the Communist Party had contested elections from the Banda Lok Sabha seat. First Ram Sajeevan contested the elections but lost. After this, in 1967, Communist’s Jageshwar Yadav won the election and waved the red flag. After this, with the rise of Jan Sangh, the Communists were left behind in the fight between Congress and Jan Sangh. But in the 80s the Communist Party once again made a comeback. In 1984, Ram Sajeevan again contested the elections, but lost the elections due to the Congress wave.
Communist Party fighting for survival
Ram Sajeevan won the Lok Sabha elections held in 1989. The communists had to face defeat due to the Ram Mandir movement of 1991. In the 90s, Ram Sajeevan left the Communist Party and joined BSP, leading to a famine of leaders in the Communist Party. However, the communists continued to dominate the assembly elections also. Of the five Lok Sabha seats in Banda-Chitrakoot, Chitrakoot, Baberu and Naraini, the Communist Party won in 1972, 1977, 1985 and 1989. But after the 90s, communists are fighting for survival.
